What are Clear Aligners?

Our Clear Aligners uses a series of customised, clear/transparent alignment trays. When you wear each set of aligners as directed, they progressively nudge your teeth into a straighter alignment. Each set places small amounts of pressure at key points throughout your smile. The entire series of trays are digitally designed for precise tooth movement. In some cases, you can even preview a digital mock-up of your results before the treatment starts.

What is the process like?

When you see Dr Mark Chung (Dentist) for an initial consultation, we’re able to take molds of your teeth and create a digital “before and after” movie for you to preview. We can adjust it from different angles so that you have a good idea of what your smile will look like after the whole treatment, before you ever start treatment.

You’ll wear your clear orthodontic trays for two weeks at a time (removing them for hygiene and meals, of course) and then stop by our office about every 6-8 weeks. These short visits are to ensure that things are moving along properly and to deliver the next sets of trays.

How long does it take for a straight smile?

A typical Clear Aligners patient will complete their treatment in about 12 months, with severe cases taking a bit longer. However, short term “fast braces” alternatives are available when you only need to straighten your front teeth for cosmetic reasons. These situations usually only consist of minor crowding in the front teeth and take about six months to complete.

Most patients will need to change their aligners out every two weeks. We can provide you with an estimated timeframe of your treatment length during your initial consultation. On average, most of our patients complete their clear braces treatment in 12-18 months. Some cases are much shorter, especially if only mild tooth movement is needed.

Dr Chung wants to be sure that you’re happy with the results. If we need to make any adjustments or fine tune your Clear Aligners treatment towards the end of your therapy, we can do so. Sometimes, small “buttons” (tooth colored, bonded extensions) provide a bit of grip for your aligners to get added traction against specific teeth.

How To Take Care Of Invisalign?

Plan to wear your Clear trays or Clear aligner system for 22 hours per day, only removing them during meals or to brush and floss.
